Product Description

Daimler-Benz presented the 220 and 300 passenger car models at the first International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in April 1951. Both featured all-new six-cylinder engines with an overhead camshaft. Apart from its 2.2-litre engine with 80 hp, the 220 model was largely based on the 170 S. The suspension and bodywork were virtually identical, but the headlamps were now integrated into the specially modified front wings. In keeping with the significantly increased output, the front wheels on the 220 were fitted with duplex brakes.

From December 1953, in response to “repeated requests from prominent individuals” (as a circular from the sales management team put it) a further body variant was introduced: a Coupé, which in terms of sales price and number of units produced was to become the most exclusive version of the 220. In technical and stylistic terms, the Coupé was based on the Cabriolet A.

220 Coupé, W187, 1953-1957, grey. Resin. Scale 1:43. Accurate reproduction. High-quality printed interior. In presentation box, on printed base. By Minimax for Mercedes-Benz.
