Product Description

The spring of 1971 saw the launch of a new production sports car, the 350 SL. It replaced the 280 SL, which had been built since January 1968. In technical terms, the new model was a totally new development which had virtually nothing in common with its predecessor. Elementary components, however, had already featured in other Mercedes‑Benz models: the front and rear suspension corresponded in principle to the design used on the "Stroke Eight" models and the V8 engine was familiar from the 280 SE 3.5 saloons, coupés and cabriolets.
